The rest of the spring involved lots of staying at home during the pandemic and trying to stay healthy. We were homeschooling the three youngest boys, and Samuel, Betsy, and Austin were all completing their schoolwork online. We spent a lot of time trying to downsize and clean up before getting ready for the move. I continued to teach piano lessons and had my final recital in May, it was a zoom recital since gatherings are still not permitted. Caleb did really well with homeschool, but Malachi and Gideon mostly just wanted to play all day. We were able to attend church in person though, and I played piano solo arrangments of the hymns during sacrament meeting since we weren't allowed to sing yet. We did have to wear our masks, and there were no second-hour meetings. We still had to wear our masks anytime we went anywhere unless it was outdoors like hiking or the beach. We were able to attend the temple but had to make an appointment which was really hard to get and wear our masks, but it was so nice to be able to attend the temple again. Travis and I really enjoyed it, and even stopped and walked along the beach for a while on the way back home. (pictured above). Austin graduated high school in May, and they were able to have her graduation in person in the aloha stadium, but it was with a lot of restrictions. Everyone had to wear masks, even though it was outdoors, and the chairs were 6 feet apart, and all down the football field. We had to drive through a big line to drop her off and pick her up, and there were no gatherings allowed, or leis or signs. Luckily though the YW dropped off her gifts and leis for her ahead of time, so she still got to somewhat enjoy that tradition. Austin also became a manager at her job at Pizza Hut shortly after she turned 18, and has been able to work a lot of hours and save a lot of money for college. She got into BYU-Idaho and BYU-Provo, but she decided to go to BYU-Idaho. She will start college in September. Joseph and Jessica ended up moving out at the end of April after Jessica came home super late at night and had forgotten her key and couldn't get in the house. Joseph had to get her a Lyft ride back to where he was working as a security guard at the time, and paid for her to have a room for the night. Then they apparently decided to stay in the hotel until they were supposed to fly back to California on May 26th. They ended up blowing almost all of the money they had saved up for starting over in California on their last month here, staying in a hotel room for a month and eating out.
