We got all of this free food from the food pantry (it was extra food they had)

Our summer was super-hot and dry, and our ward fasted for rain, and we finally got rain the weekend of September 9th and it finally cooled off to lower than 100 degrees outside. We also planted our fall garden just before it started raining so that was really good timing.  Most of our spring/summer garden didn't do very well since it was so hot and dry.  Here is an update on everyone:

Travis is working on applying for "The School of Family Life" for his next schooling for a Chaplain, so he can be a Family Life Chaplain.  It is an 18-month course, which would start in January or 2025, so we would get to stay here at Fort Cavazos (they changed the name from Fort Hood) until the summer of 2026.  (I am happy about that).  He had to take the GRE (a graduate test similar to the SAT) so he studied for a week or so and took the test.  He turned in his application, so we'll see what is decided.

Joseph decided to fly to Texas and stay with his friend Merlin and try to get a job here.  He thought he was going to have a job, but it didn't work out, so now he is job hunting here in Temple, while Jessica is still at their apartment in Saratoga Springs.  I think the plan is for him to get a job and work here until their lease runs out in Utah, and then they will bring Jessica out here to Texas, and hopefully Joseph will be in a good-paying job by then and have found a place for them to live.

Austin is enjoying working at Jacob Lake Inn, and keeps busy with online classes, working full-time as a server, and spending as much time with her boyfriend Jacob as she can.  They can't be seen as a couple on the property since technically there is no dating allowed.

Betsy lost her subway job (they were just downsizing) at the beginning of June, and has been looking for a job, but hasn't found one yet.  She has started some training for modeling though and hoping that it will lead to some paying jobs.

Samuel has a "friend-girl".  We call her that because she is not 16 yet, so they are not allowed to date "technically", but they both like each other and have gone on a few "dates" together.  Samuel still loves to call everyone weird names, his latest one for me is "rem-o-b-bob" It makes no sense to me, but I have just learned to go with it.

Caleb keeps busy with schoolwork, band, choir, and tennis.  Choir is his favorite this year.  He has gotten into taking videos of himself and his brothers being weird, some of them are pretty funny.

Malachi likes school, and playing with friends.  He and Gideon love to play games together.

Gideon is also enjoying school so far, and loves screens!  He always wants to be watching T.V., playing video games, or on his iPad, I try to limit him as much as I can, but I am concerned with how much he wants to be on screens.  One new thing he has been saying when he is upset with you is "You are going to die alone, and spoonless!" it is pretty silly, and usually makes us laugh instead of taking him seriously.

Malachi and Gideon got to go with Travis to the Stripling Warrior primary activity we put on for the boys and their Dad's or an adult.  They had a lot of fun getting their pictures taken as a stripling warrior, shooting bows and arrows, painting prayer rocks, going through an obstacle course, making balloon swords, and getting treats.
